After a few days of anticipation, the South African lockdown is finally here. Many of us will be feeling slightly dazed, and wondering if this is real, after all. It is real. For the time being, it is our reality. We will need to adapt our lives to ensure we come out of the lockdown stronger, not just physically but emotionally as well.
Things are going to feel strange for the first few days, and that is perfectly normal. Our routines have been disrupted. Our lives have been upended. We spent the last couple of days in a frantic spin getting ready for today, and most of that getting ready was about the physical. Few of us would have stopped to think about how we are going to cope on a day-to-day basis now that everything we knew has changed so dramatically.
The most important thing is to establish a routine for yourself, and this applies whether you are working from home or not.
Wake up. Get up. Get dressed. Yes! Actually, make that effort. Take off those pj’s. Put on proper clothes. Make yourself look good. And that applies to those of us living alone as well. Looking good is not something we should be doing for other people, it is something we should be doing for ourselves.
Be proud of your physical appearance today!
