BE QUICK TO LAUGH AT YOURSELF

We need to be quick to laugh at our own mistakes. We need to be quick to acknowledge our flaws. We need to be quick to accept that we are human. We are not perfect. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

We are who we are. We are made up of the things we were taught, the things we learnt on our own, the things we experienced, the things we did not experience, the things we did to people, the things people did to us. We are the sum total of all the things that have happened to us – good and bad. And we are flawed. We are human.

Accepting this is one of the most important steps in our progress along our life journey.

Even more important than accepting it, is being able to find the humour when we falter. When we make mistakes. When we show others that we are not perfect.

We need to be able to laugh at ourselves. We need to laugh out loud at ourselves, welcoming lightness to whatever the situation. We need to laugh at ourselves, allowing us to gain insight into what has happened. We need to laugh at ourselves in a way that keeps our self-worth intact. We need to have the courage to risk looking foolish.

We need to laugh at ourselves. We need to learn from that laughter. We need to learn.
