Be curious. A good question can take you a lot further than a quick answer

In today’s furious world where we seem to be running on the hamster’s treadmill, we are all looking for quick answers. Somehow we have lost the curiousness that we used to have as children. We are no longer interested in detail. We don’t want to know what lies beneath or even around the corner. We are in a hurry and want the sound bite.

What we don’t seem to realise is that we are missing out on so much because of this. Being curious is a fantastic characteristic. It encourages us to explore beyond the obvious. To keep our eyes open looking for the strange and the unknown. To reach out and embrace different concepts.

Your brain is a muscle and you need to exercise it. You need to keep it fit. Mental exercise through curiosity will make it stronger and you will train your brain to accommodate new ideas. Without curiosity, new possibilities that are not normally visible will remain hidden from view.

Just because something is unfamiliar, doesn’t mean that we should shun it. We need to be open to learn and unlearn and relearn. And integrate the new thoughts that are presented to us in response to questions.

So don’t take things for granted. Develop that curiosity and train yourself to look beneath and beyond.
